James Tribbet Jr.

James J. Tribbet Jr., 77, of Pittston, passed away peacefully on Sept. 29, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Pittston on Oct. 5, 1947, he was the son of the late Rose Fino Tribbet and James Tribbet Sr. Jim was a proud graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School and King's College. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he received the Air Medal, the Bronze Star Medal and the Army Commendation Medal for his heroic efforts.

Jim retired as a Loss Prevention Supervisor for T.J. Maxx Corporation. In addition to his professional life, Jim was an avid sports enthusiast. He spent many years coaching local baseball teams, where he was a patient teacher and dedicated mentor for young athletes. His impact on the field went far beyond the game. He taught discipline, teamwork and perseverance, and remained a positive influence in the lives of countless players long after their playing days were over. Along with coaching baseball, Jim enjoyed playing tennis and golf alongside friends and family. The times he spent on the field, court and course brought lifelong memories that he cherished because of the time spent with the people closest to him.

Above all, Jim was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He shared a deep and lasting love with his late wife, Deborah Lombardi Tribbet, with whom he built a beautiful life rooted in family. Their marriage was a true partnership built on their love for each other and their children. Not a day passed that Jim didn't speak of her with affection and pride, and he carried her memory in everything he did after her passing.

His greatest joy came from being surrounded by his family. He took immense pride in the lives and accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. He was a constant source of support, wisdom and quiet strength. A role model whose love and guidance will be deeply missed. Over the last 10 years his grandchildren became his world, providing him endless smiles, laughter and playful moments.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Roseann Tribbet and Barbara Fleming.

He is survived by his loving children: Jason Tribbet and his wife Jenna, of Plains, Jaime Kotch and her husband Carl, of Sugarloaf, and Jessica Roberts and her husband Ron, of Drums; and cherished grandchildren, Noah and Sadie Tribbet and Lyla and Willow Kotch. He is also survived by brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David Lombardi and Patricia Lombardi, of Duryea, and sister-in-law, Sharon Egan, of Summerfield, Fla. As well as several nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom he held close to his heart.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William St., Pittston. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 a.m.
