John Deleman Obituary

J ohn L. Deleman Sr., 63, of Pine Street, Hanover section of Nanticoke, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, after a brief illness.
Born and raised in the Georgetown section of Wilkes-Barre Township, he was the son of the late Leo and Jennie (Gavelko) Deleman, and was a graduate of the former Wilkes-Barre Township High School. He later resided in Ashley for five years and in Nanticoke since 1969.
Mr. Deleman served in the Army during the Vietnam War with the 543rd Military Police at Ft. Knox, Kentucky. He later served in the Army Reserves until 1970, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Earlier in life he had worked at Interstate Brands Blue Ribbon Bakery, Kingston, until its closing in 1972. He was last employed by Champion Builders, Pittston, for over 20 years, retiring in 2005. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Nanticoke.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, the former Lois Prest; sons John L. Deleman Jr., Wilkes-Barre; Keith Deleman, Nanticoke; a daughter, Janine Farrell, and her husband, Sean, Wanamie section of Newport Township; and four grandchildren, John Michael Deleman, Jeffrey Deleman, Nathan Deleman, and Shayne Farrell.
Private services will be held in the chapel of St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township, with the Rev. James Nash, his pastor, officiating. There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Dinelli Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad St., Nanticoke.
