Joseph Nardone Obituary

WEST PITTSTON — Joseph C. Nardone, 75, of West Pittston, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, in the Hospice Community Care Inpatient Unit of Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Old Forge, he was a son of the late Dominick and Louise (Talerico) Nardone. He was a graduate of West Pittston High School, class of 1956, and received his bachelor's degree in education from Bloomsburg University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves.

For 50 years he owned and operated, along with his parents, Nardone's Restaurant of West Pittston. After retiring from the restaurant business he was employed at Wyoming Homes and, prior to his illness, was employed at Pace Transportation.

Mr. Nardone was very instrumental in the formation and development of the Greater Pittston Legion Baseball and, while attending West Pittston High School, he participated in three sports but excelled in football.

Preceding him in death was his sister, Marie Short; and his wife, Rosemary Nardone.

Surviving are his daughters, Lisa Nardone and Dominique Nardone.

A memorial service with a celebration of Joe's life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Trinity Episcopal Church, 220 Montgomery Ave., West Pittston, with the Rev. John Major officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are made by the Metcalfe-Shaver-Kopcza Funeral Home Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.

Lisa and Dominique,

Your father was a wonderful man and a great part of my life, growing up in Greater Pittston. I will always be grateful for the wisdom and confidence he imparted, while working for him at Nardone's, or hearing his lectures as he drove us home from a high school event. Lisa, do you remember almost working a summer in the Poconos?

I will treasure wonderful memories shared with you all.

May God bless and keep him...I hope he and Rosie are dancing together.

Love and prayers....
Susan

He was first a great Coach to me and later a great friend. My coaching today is patterned in part after him and his warm style of doing so. I always remember those competitive days of baseball playing for him and Mike...quite a team they were. He will be missed.
