WILKES-BARRE — Josephine J. Alexy, 89, of Brookside Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2014, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Josephine was a loving and devoted mother and will be sadly missed by her family.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Della Backiel Burry. She was a member of St. Andre Bessette Parish, Wilkes-Barre.
Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander J. Alexy, on Jan. 12, 2002. She was also preceded in death by brother, Joseph Burry; sisters, Angela Durinski and Roberta Surdel.
Surviving are sons, Alexander "Sonny" Alexy, Wilkes-Barre, Richard M. Alexy and his wife, Romaine, Nanticoke; daughter, Bonny Alexy and her companion, John Cole, Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren, Maria Malecki and her husband, Joseph, Erica Nallon and Dan Malachefski, Richard A. Alexy; great-grandchildren, Jayden and Zachary; sisters, Florence Garbush and Lorraine Toloczko.
Funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Friday from the Yeosock Funeral Home, 40 S. Main St., Plains Township, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Andre Bessette Parish at St. Stanislaus Church. Interment in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
