Loretta Arcuri Obituary

SCRANTON — Loretta Motovidlak Arcuri, of the Gino Merli Veteran's Center Scranton, formerly of West Scranton, died Monday morning, March 21, 2016, in the VNA Hospice Unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center. Her husband of 33 years, Michael J. Arcuri Sr., died Dec. 10, 1987.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was daughter of the late Frank and Marcella Kaveleski Motovidlak. She was a graduate of Marymount grade school and high school.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a packer for McKinney Products of Scranton. She also assisted her husband in the management of Arcuri Trucking Co.

She was a member of St. Patrick Church, West Scranton.

She was a loving and devoted, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed shopping on QVC, trips to Atlantic City and Las Vegas and playing bingo at the Gino Merli Veterans Center. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Loretta's family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of the Gino Merli Veterans Center and the VNA Hospice Unit for the care and compassion given to their mom.

Surviving are one son, Dino Sr. and his wife Geraldine, Plains Township; three grandchildren, Leah Arcuri Hacker and her husband, Matt, Pittson, Dino Arcuri Jr., New York City, New York, Michael Arcuri and his wife, Lacey, Scranton; two great-grandchildren Makayla and Michael; one sister, Delores Gutkowski, Mountain Top; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; her best friend, Gertrude Srebro, Moosic.

She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Arcuri Jr.; and nine brothers.

The funeral will begin with a Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, 1605 Oram St., West Scranton. Interment will be private in the Cathedral Cemetery. Friends may call 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gino Merli Veterans Center, 401 Penn Ave., Scranton, PA 18503; or to the VNA Hospice Home Health, 301 Delaware Ave., Olyphant, PA 18447.
