LAKE WINOLA — Louise J. DeLeo, 87, of Lake Winola, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2014, at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Anthony P. DeLeo.
She was born on April 2, 1926, in Scranton, a daughter of the late Anthony and Bridgetta Apostalico Berardelli.
Louise graduated from Scranton Technical High School in 1944. She was a housewife until the age of 51 and then entered into Penn State University, Dunmore, along with her son and daughter-in-law to receive her associate's degree in business administration in 1980. She proudly worked up until the age of 85 at Green Thumb and Area Agency for the Aging as a job placement specialist.
Mrs. DeLeo was a founding member of the Altar and Rosary Society at the St. Mary of the Church in Lake Winola.
Most of all, Louise enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her six grandsons, two granddaughters and her great-granddaughter. She loved to cook, shop, travel, play cards, attend Broadway shows and be surrounded by friends and family. She was a very loving and caring person and will be deeply missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Grace Fresco.
She is survived by her sons, Anthony, Tunkhannock, Nicholas and his wife, Donna, Rochester, N.Y., Louis and his wife, Cindy, Lake Winola, Robert and his wife, Kelly, Pittston; son-in-law, James Fresco, Waverly; grandchildren, Barbara, Tony, Corey, Jimmy, Johnny, Danny, David and Erin; great-granddaughter, Ava.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary of the Lake Church. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will in in Pieta Cemetery Tunkhannock. Friends and family may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc., 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock.
