Luke Karolchyk Obituary

Luke Carl Karolchyk, of Lincoln Park, Mich., died on Thursday, March 14, 2013.

He was born in Larksville to Luke Karolchyk and Anna Galinus on Dec. 6, 1917. Luke graduated from Larksville High School in 1935. He married Rose Marie Piscotty on Aug. 30, 1941, in Plymouth. Rose, his wife of 71 years, was at his side at his passing.

Luke was a Navy serviceman in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations in World War II. After his service, he returned to the United States and worked for the City of Lincoln Park until his retirement. He was a third-degree member of the Robert H. Jones Knights of Columbus and served as its treasurer for many years. Luke was also an usher at his parish, Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, in Lincoln Park. He was an avid vegetable gardener throughout his life.

Luke is survived by his wife, Rose Karolchyk, and daughters, Cheryl Brozovic of Taylor, Mich., and Dr. Mary Ann Karolchyk of Morristown, N.J.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the organizations and causes that he supported, R.H. Jones Council 3078, Attn: M.I. Chairman or the Penrickton Center for Blind Children.

Funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the S.J.Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth, followed by interment at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Nativity Cemetery, Plymouth Township. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to funeral time.
