Marlene C. Elko, 78, of Plains Township, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2025, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, with her family by her side.
Born Dec. 25, 1946, in Kingston, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Albina (Chickanovich) Albosta. Marlene was a graduate of Kingston High School, Class of 1965. She held various positions, but her greatest achievement was being a loving wife, mother and grandmother above all.
She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed going to Onawandah campground in Tunkhannock. She shared her love of cooking and baking with her family. Whether it was her famous piggies, pierogis or her enormous apple pies. She always looked forward to cooking for the ones she loved.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, David T. Elko, on Aug. 6, 2020.
Surviving are her children: Michael Shuleski and his wife, Ann Beth, Shavertown; Michelle O'Brien and her husband, Patrick, Warrior Run; Richard Shuleski and his wife, Jaymie, Bear Creek; Krista Bonavina and her husband, Jamie, Parsons; and Denise Kroll and her husband, Brian, Laflin; grandchildren: Marissa, Melissa, Alissa, Joshua, Cole, Hudson, Brandon, Dylan and Ethan.
Per Marlene's wishes, funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Corcoran Funeral Home Inc., 20 S. Main St., Plains Township.
