KINGSTON — Michael M. Saracino Jr., 85, Kingston, passed away peacefully in front of his family on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018.
Michael (Bucky) was born in Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 1933, the son of Michael M. Saracino Sr. and Angelina Delesandro. He served as a medic in the Army during the Korean War. Shortly after returning home, he met the love of his life and wife of 56 years, Doris B. Saracino, of Kingston, where they started a family and he worked as an operating engineer from 1960 to 1998.
Michael will be missed deeply by his family, who will cherish and carry his spirit with them. They will remember a quiet and affectionate man who was selfless. A father who gave his life to his family. They will remember a supportive husband who was a rock to their mother and supported her in her time of need. His grandchildren, who affectionately called him "Pop," will remember more than just the "funny chauffeur" but also a grandfather who never missed a sporting event or special moment in their lives. Everyone loved their "Uncle Buck" and he had plenty to give back. Most of all, everyone will remember a man who had your back, no matter the circumstance. And if you are one of the lucky ones who got to hear his late-night renditions of Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin, that is a gift that will keep on giving.
Michael is survived by his children, Michael M. Saracino III and wife Laurie, of Larksville, Maria Mooney and husband Paul, of Kingston, and Edward J. Saracino, of Valley Forge; and brother Gabriel Saracino, of Kingston; as well as his seven grandchildren: Matthew Mooney, Michael Saracino IV, Nicholas Mooney, Nathan Mooney, Dominick Saracino, Marissa Mooney and Angelina Saracino.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris, and siblings Lucille Finn, Rachel Maloney and Dominick Saracino.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday from the Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Ignatius of Loyola Church, Kingston. Burial will be held at St. Ignatius Cemetery, Pringle.
Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
