Paul Bedwick Obituary

Paul G. Bedwick, 73, of Hanover Township, passed away Saturday, October 25, surrounded by loving family.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, on March 21, 1935, Paul was a son of the late George & Viola (Tabit) Bedwick.
He was a 1954 graduate of GAR High School and served in the U.S. Air Force. Paul worked for 43 years with Acme Markets Inc.
He served in many positions with the organization, finally retiring as a district manager.
Mr. Bedwick was a well-respected member of the community. Paul’s passions were his family, faith and friends.
He was a lifelong member of St. George Maronite Church in Wilkes-Barre.
Paul lovingly and willingly assisted countless people in finding employment throughout the Wyoming Valley.
Paul served on many boards of directors, including Wilkes-Barre Parks & Rec, LCCC Board of Governors and St. George Maronite Church.
He was a member of the National Apostolate of Maronites, St. Sharbel Society and Holy Name Society among others.
Paul was instrumental in the creation of the St. Theresa Grotto at St. George Maronite Church. He also established the Bedwick Memorial Scholarship given annually to a student from the Wilkes-Barre Area Vo-Tech School attending LCCC. Paul was a recipient of the Silver Massabki Award, named after the patrons of the Laity, the three Blessed Massabki brothers.
Paul was preceded in death by his son Paul Jr.; brothers Joseph, William, Peter and Anthony; and his sister Sadie Ellis.
Surviving are his loving wife of just more than 50 years, the former Anne Shiner; four children, Michelle Mann, Ellicott City, Md.; and her husband, Pat; Allan Bedwick, Tokyo, Japan, and his wife, Akiko; Jennifer Bedwick, Philadelphia, and Leslie Caffrey, Plymouth Meeting, and her husband, Anthony; grandchildren Jacob and Harrison Mann, Alyse and Emily Caffrey, and Rex Bedwick; sisters Cele Kasmark, Anna Yablonski and Mary Jacobs, all of Wilkes-Barre; brothers Raymond Bedwick, Edwardsville, and John Bedwick, Wilkes-Barre; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from Mamary-Durkin Funeral Home, 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. from St. George Maronite Church, 79 Loomis St., Wilkes-Barre.
Interment will be at St. Mary’s R.C. Cemetery in Hanover Township.
Friends may call Tuesday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at Mamary-Durkin Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN or to St. Theresa Grotto fund at St. George Maronite Church.

Aunt Anne and family,
I am very sad over the loss of Uncle Paul and will miss him dearly. He has helped so many people in so many ways. I loved him very much, and will always cherish the memories we had on Birch St. He was an exceptional husband, father, uncle ,and friend. My prayers are with all of with you. It's a sad day in Wilkes-Barre and I wish I could be there. Words can't help with what your going through, but I wanted you to know your in my heart and prayers.
