Richard Krukowski

Richard “Kirk” Krukowski, R. Ph., 63, of Clarks Summit, passed away Friday, August 21, 2009, at his home.
He was born July 7, 1946, in Wilkes-Barre, a son of the late Alexander and Ann Warko Krukowski. He was a graduate of Coughlin High School, Luzerne County Community College and Temple University School of Pharmacy. In 1965, Richard served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves as a member of the 402nd Military Police Unit.
He was the current regent of the Pocono Graduate Chapter of Kappa Psi Fraternity
Mr. Krukowski was a pharmacist in the Scranton area for 32 years and for the last 12 years was the co-owner of Medfast/Lech’s Pharmacy in Tunkhannock.
In the late 1960s and early 1970s, he played guitar in several local bands including Mel-Wynn and the Royal Aces. During the 1990s, he played with the country bands Quick Draw and Texas Strangers.
Surviving are his wife of 12 years, Lori Krukowski; daughter Heather Kemerer Learn, who is attending pharmacy school at Northeastern University, Boston, and her husband, Kevin Learn; sister, Dorothy Gowarty, and her husband, Stanley, Bethlehem; brother, William Krukowski, and his wife, Josephine, Wilkes-Barre.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. from the E. Blake Collins Funeral Home, 159 George Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Dominic’s Church, Wilkes-Barre. Entombment will be in the mausoleum of Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton. Friends may call Monday, from 5 to 9 p.m.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to a trust fund that will benefit Richard’s great-nephew, Aidan Gowarty. Contributions can be mailed to Citizens Bank, 1142 Northern Blvd., Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
