Robert Edwin Post, 72, of Clarks Summit, went to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday at Allied Services Hospice Center after a long illness. He was the husband of Catherine (Secunda) Post for over 32 years.
Born July 28, 1953, in Kingston, he was the son of the late Harry Edwin and Helen (Gray) Post. Bob graduated from West Side Central Catholic High School in Kingston in 1971. After high school, he attended Penn State Wilkes-Barre and Williamsport Technical Institute. During this time, he loved working on the farm and especially enjoyed the tractors.
He retired after 18 years of service with Supreme Oil Company as a truck driver. Bob was especially proud of his role at Luzerne County Community College, where he was the coordinator of the Motorcycle Safety Program. He was awarded the Most Outstanding Instructor award in PA and was nationally recognized for his role by the National Motorcycle Safety Foundation in Irvine, Calif., becoming the first in PA to receive the honor.
Bob was also a member of the Irem Shriners and was a model train enthusiast, taking up much of the basement with his setup.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are stepdaughters, Lauren Stevens (Scott) of Syracuse, N.Y., and Jaime Litts (Brian) of Roaring Brook Township; grandchildren, Gavin and Jessica Stevens and Keegan and Kasey Litts; and a brother, John Post of Luzerne.
Bob was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Post.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, in Church of St. Benedict, 1849 Newton Ransom Blvd., Newton Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated. The family will receive family and friends from 9:15 a.m. until the Mass in the church. Interment will be in St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Irem Shrine, P.O. Box 307, Dallas, PA 18612.
Bob's care has been entrusted to Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., Clarks Summit, and their on-site crematory. For directions or to leave a condolence, visit the funeral home website.
