KINGSTON — Ruth Yudkovitz, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, died on April 7, 2018, after a very long, well-lived and loving life. She was 99 years old. Ruth was born in Georgetown, grew up in Buttonwood, and lived most of her adult life in Kingston, while enjoying summers with her family at Harveys Lake. She died while a resident at St. Luke's Villa in Wilkes-Barre.
Born Aug. 15, 1918, to Ida Lakin and Benjamin Danoff, who both immigrated from Russia before her birth, she had three loved siblings, Harry Danoff, Ethel Lang and Milton Danoff who have all predeceased her. Ruth married Albert Yudkovitz at the Ohaz Zedek Synagogue on June 13, 1940, where they remained members throughout their lives. Ruth and Albert have two daughters, Elaine Yudkovitz and Toby Ruddick.
Ruth was a secretary and bookkeeper working side by side with her husband in their business, Valley Wiping Cloth Company, until their retirement in 1985. She was a devoted wife and caretaker until Albert died Sept. 24, 1988, and a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter Elaine and mate, Jeffrey Leon Levine, and grandson, Benjamin Yudkovitz and Toby and husband, Roger Alan Ruddick, granddaughter, Amy McCleary and her husband, Wendell McCleary and great-granddaughter, Avery Reese McCleary, who affectionately called Ruth, Bubbie-Bubbie.
Family members were the Jewels in Ruth's crown and remained the center of her world throughout her long life. Her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, all having predeceased her, were in her thoughts and heart until she died as were her growing family of nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren. She was always a willing caretaker to anyone who she loved and who needed her in any way. Ruth retained a wonderful sense of humor throughout her life and was always kind to those around her. She was so appreciative of the care, concern and friendship of Edna Moldanado and Rena Roberts in her last years.
Ruth will be interred with her beloved husband and his family in the Ohav Zedek Cemetery in Hanover Green. The funeral will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018 in the Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, 348 S. River St., Wilkes-Barre. Shiva will be at the Woodlands Inn and Resort from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018.
