Stasia M. Czapracki, 97, formerly of Glen Lyon and Nanticoke, passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017.
Born in Glen Lyon, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Apolonia (Barbarewicz) Olshefski. She attended the Newport Township public schools and worked in the local garment industry for 44 years, retiring in 1981. A talented sewer, she also assisted her late brother, Chester Olshefski, from Chet's Upholstery, in many phases of the upholstery business and helped many people with clothing alterations. She also taught sewing at the former Roosevelt School in Wanamie.
Stasia loved working crossword puzzles, cooking and baking, but most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Paul Czapracki; brothers, Frank, Michael, Anthony, Chester, Walter, Leo and Raymond; and sisters, Celia Gregga, Stephanie Strzalka and Helen Olshefski.
Surviving are a son, Stanley Czapracki and his wife, Sandra, of Nanticoke; grandchildren, Allison, Kevin, Paul, Kenneth, David and Brian; great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Pauline Macosky, of Glen Lyon; as well as nieces and nephews.
Special thank you goes out to the staff at Birchwood Nursing Center, especially "Jeannie" for all the great care Stasia received while at their facility.
Honoring Stasia's wishes, following cremation, a memorial Mass will be held on April 24, 2017, a Monday, at 10 a.m. in St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, alternate site, St. Mary's Church, 1030 S. Hanover St., Nanticoke. Interment will be in St. Adalbert's Cemetery, Glen Lyon. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 24, 2017, from 9 a.m. until time of Mass at the church. Arrangements are by Davis-Dinelli Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad St., Nanticoke.
