Susan Welsko Obituary

S usan T. Welsko, 79, of the North End Section of Wilkes-Barre, died Sunday morning at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late John and Anna Sulter (Michal) Michaels. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, Wilkes-Barre, and was employed as a waitress until her retirement.
She was a member of the Parish Community of Sacred Heart/St. John’s Church, Wilkes-Barre, and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, where she served as its president.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Welsko, on March 3, 1976; and brothers and sisters.
Surviving are her daughter, Andrea Crockett, Dallas; son, Joseph Welsko, Exeter; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother Cyril Michaels, Kingston; sister Dorothy Jackson, Florida; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. from the Corcoran Funeral Home, 20 S. Main St., Plains, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart/St. John’s Church, Wilkes-Barre. Internment will be held in the Parish Cemetery, Dallas. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, 63 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.

Sue and her sister Marge showed me the ropes waitressing at the Host Motel in the late 60's. I met her again much later while she was serving my family breakfast at Friendly's. I remember them both fondly. Sympathies to the family.
