Karan Abat Obituary

Karen Ruth Abat, born on January 27, 1965, in San Diego, California, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2024, in her hometown of San Diego.

Karen was a devoted wife to Steve Abat for 35 years and a loving mother to her three children: Nick, Noell, and Sarah. She was the cherished daughter of Kathleen Yvonne Hucknall and the late Alfred Hucknall, who preceded her in death on November 19, 2011. Karen is also survived by her siblings: David Hucknall, Joe Hucknall, and Sandra Norman.

Karen spent her life in California, living in San Diego, Murrieta, and Vista. She dedicated many years to the Murrieta Valley Unified School District as a crossing guard and later as an instructional assistant. In addition to her professional contributions, Karen lovingly cared for her mother during her later years with unwavering devotion.

Karen had a deep passion for family and travel. She visited all fifty states and made meaningful trips to England to connect with extended family. She also enjoyed cruises and attending concerts. Known for her generous spirit, Karen was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her resilience and positivity shone brightly as she faced the challenges of breast cancer with grace and courage.

A celebration of Karen's life will be held on Friday, January 24, from 6:00 p.m. to 09:00 p.m., at Nan Couts Cottage, located at 5045 Memorial Drive, La Mesa, CA 91642.

Karen's warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort and inspiration to those she leaves behind.
