Jimmy Lee Donnelly
Westminster, MD - Jimmy Lee Donnelly, 36, of Westminster, Maryland, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, February 9, 2021.
Jimmy was born on June 19, 1984, and is survived by his loving wife of nearly 15 years, Jamie and two daughters; Charlotte (4) and Lucy (2). He is also survived by his father, James, his mother, Audrey, his sisters Jamie and Elaina, and his brothers Michael and Jonathan.
Jimmy passed away due to a specific Thalamic Glioblastoma (Brain Cancer). Similar to the way Jimmy handled adversity, he dealt with his diagnosis with unmatched strength, grace, and positivity. From the onset of his initial symptoms to his final moments with family, Jimmy exhibited incessant faith, patience, and a courageous willingness to be a shining example to his family and friends.
Jimmy was born in Riverside, California, and relocated to New Brighton, Pennsylvania as a young child. Throughout his childhood, Jimmy enjoyed playing baseball, loved to skateboard, and made many memories with his close friends and family.
Shortly after his 18th birthday, Jimmy enlisted into the U.S. Army and arrived at Fort Jackson Basic Training in South Carolina. He served as a Cable Systems Installer-Maintainer and advanced to the rank of E-6. His duty stations included Mannheim, Germany, followed by deployments to Turkey, Kuwait, and Afghanistan as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. He then served at Ft. Detrick, Maryland, where he honorably completed his military service after nearly ten years. Jimmy then served as a U.S. Army Government Employee, followed by his most recent position as a Network Engineer for defense contractor Northrop Grumman.
Jimmy attended the University of Maryland Global Campus where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Networks and Security, followed by a Master of Science in Information Technology with a specialization in Project Management.
Jimmy enjoyed spending quality time with his wife and children. Whether it was eating popsicles on the front porch during the summertime or sledding in his backyard with his girls during the first snow, Jimmy loved nothing more than being a father and a husband. He made the most of every day with his girls – exploring new places, creating adventures, and enjoying family movie nights. Like most things, fatherhood came naturally to Jimmy as he assumed the role with unrelenting passion, tenderness, and purpose. Jimmy also had a knack for home renovation projects and cooking family recipes.
Jimmy's effervescence was contagious, and his life has impacted everyone profoundly. As a natural-born leader, he is leading us once again. Jimmy has been called home to be with the Lord and will be missed greatly, but his memory will live on through recalling his perfect smile, jokes, kind laughter, and silliness (including his novel freestyle poetry). Although life will never be the same without Jimmy, his legacy will live on through his girls and the foundation he has built as a husband, father, son, brother, and comrade.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 13, 2021 from 1:00pm – 3:00pm at the Eline Funeral Home – 2901 Bloom Road, Finksburg, MD. A service will follow at 3:00pm. For those unable to attend a live webcast of the service will be offered at
