PETER MOTTES Obituary

Pete was born on November 13, 1935, in Rochester, the son of the late Peter and Katherine Mottes. He was a 1953 graduate of Aliquippa High School and was drafted by the Cleveland Indians Baseball Team, but due to extensive travel requirements and a young family, he decided to stay in Aliquippa where he retired from J&L Steel. He was a member of St. Titus Catholic Church and volunteered in many organizations including the Holy Name Society, St. Vincent DePaul, Eucharist Ministry, and ran the church flea market during the church festivals for years. Pete coached youth baseball throughout his life and founded the West Aliquippa Ackies youth football team. He was an award winning professional Bass fisherman and served in the U.S. Navy.

In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy DiCicco; a son, John Mottes; a granddaughter, Melissa Mottes; and special brother-in-law, Christy LeDonne.

He is survived by his wife, Harriet; a son, Pete, Jr. (Andrea) and four daughters, Mary (Dave) Kelly, Kelly (Mark) Koban, Kristie (David) Crisci, and Natalie Ferrebee; 15 grandchildren, Pete, Matt (Jen), Danica, Katie, and Emily Mottes, Sean (Stacy), Scott (Jamee), David Kelly and Kirstin (David) Miller, Samantha (Brian) Herald and Joe Koban, Roman and Enzo Crisci, and Austin and Ryan Ferrebee; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Edwina LeDonne; a brother, Jan Mock and his wife Adrienne; and many nieces and nephews.
