Darlene Moss Obituary

Darlene Renee Moss
54, first born child of Nancy and Gary L. Armstrong, Sr. of Gnadenhutten, was called home to the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Friday, Sept. 4, 2015 from Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia. Darlene was a 1978 graduate of Indian Valley North High School, and on Sept. 16 of the same year, she married the love of her life, Daniel Lee Moss.
At the young age of 26, Darlene was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor that left her blind in one eye and only tunnel vision in the other. This in itself would have been reason enough for most to give up on their faith, but not for Darlene who suffered through one medical emergency after another for the next 28 years, never complaining, only seeing the miracle when she pulled through, always apologizing to a doctor (for being a complicated case) or a phlebotomist (for not being able to get blood out of her after sticking her over and over again). She was happy to be adding to her testimony that she was always willing and ready to share with anyone and everyone who would listen. Never doubting her faith, Darlene knew that God was using her to touch many lives, and she was proud to serve. Now she is reaping the benefits with perfect vision and legs that she can run through fields of flowers with and dance with Jesus.
In addition to her father, mother and husband, Darlene is survived by her sisters and brothers, Dawna (Kevin) Whytsell, Gary L. (Jennifer) Armstrong, Jr., Greg (Tammy) Armstrong, and Tamara "Tomato" (Steve) Leggett; grandmother, Mary Lou Shaw; father-in-law, Calvin (Kathy) Moss; brother-in-law, James (fiancée, Victoria) Moss; sister-in-law, Sandra (Norm) Moder; numerous nieces and nephews, including Joe (Laura) Martin whom she considered more like a son; and special great-uncle and great-aunt, Austin and Melva Beckley. Darlene was preceded in death by a baby she lost in miscarriage and is now cuddling in Heaven; paternal grandfather and grandmother, Taylor and Mary Elizabeth Armstrong; maternal grandfather, James L. Shaw, Sr.; mother-in-law, Anna Louise Moss; and sister-in-law, Cindy Moss.
Services for Darlene, officiated by Pastor Tom Klaserner, will be on Sunday, Sept. 6, at 1 p.m. in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Newport Cemetery near Uhrichsville. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Darlene's memory to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County.
