David Hackney Obituary
age 62, of 75900 Dry Ridge Road, Freeport died at 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011 at his home of natural causes. Born July 7, 1948 in Williamson,
W. Va., a son of the late Phillip and Ona Birdie Abshire Hackney. Attended Williamson School in Williamson, W.Va. He retired with a disability from Glenwood Range of Delaware, Ohio where he was a welder. He was an ordained minister for the Full Gospel of Jesus Christ Church. He likes to coon, rabbit, and squirrel hunt, hunt for ginseng, play horseshoes, and spend time outdoors with his family.
Surviving is his wife of 43 years, Virginia "Jenny" Mildred Seymour Hackney. They were married Feb. 11, 1967. Also surviving are five sons, David Hackney of Marietta, Brian (Stacey) Hackney of Ormond Beach, Fla., Joe (special friend Cori Hanlon) Hackney of Deersville, Mark (Angel) Hackney of Dennison, and Shawn Hackney of the home; two brothers, Roy Hackney of London and Jerry Hackney of Columbus; two sisters, Rose Gabriel of London and Faye (Bob) Volcur of Dresden; 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Clara, Lois, Patty, and an infant sister.
Visitation will be held in Koch Funeral Home, 216 South High Street, Freeport on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20 at the funeral home with Pastor David Koch officiating. Prayers are with the family in this time of loss. Dave was a wonderful person, always giving you that nice smile he had. He is now smiling in heaven next to his Lord and savior. He is at peace with no worries and no pain. We will see him again some day and I know he will have that big smile on his face. Rest in peace Dave, we all love ya and we will be missing you.
