Patsy Jean Watson
72, 235 McKinley Ave., Newcomerstown, passed away early Monday morning, June 11, in her Newcomerstown residence. Patsy was born in Coshocton County, Ohio on Dec. 1, 1939, a daughter of the late Ernest Stephenson, Port Washington, who died in 1986, and the late Gladys Moore Stephenson, Port Washington, who died in 1987. She was a graduate of West Lafayette High School, class of 1960. Patsy was a member of the Valley View Baptist Church, Newcomerstown, and a former member of the Newcomerstown Women of the Moose, Chapter #0029. She was a homemaker for all of her adult life and enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, watching birds, and taking long rural car rides throughout our area. In addition to her parents, Patsy was preceded in death by husband, Richard E. Watson, Newcomerstown, who died on Nov. 8, 2001, and whom she married Nov. 12, 1960.
She is survived by her three children, David E. and wife, Debra Watson, Donald L. "Don" and wife, Starla L. Watson, and Rebecca L. "Becky" Watson, all of Newcomerstown. Patsy also leaves five grandchildren, Desiree Watson, Newcomerstown, Holly and husband, Jarrod Bradford, Newcomerstown, Sarah Watson, Gnadenhutten, Dusty Watson, Newcomerstown, and Tiffany and husband, Stephen Camburn, Newcomerstown. She is also survived by two sisters and their husbands, Virginia and Robert Thornton and Sandra and Charles Mayse, all of Port Washington; an aunt, Donna Stephenson, North Carolina; a sister-in-law, Deborah Watson, Isleta (Newcomerstown); numerous nieces and nephews; and her faithful companion, her black dog, "Jackson".
Funeral services to celebrate Patsy's life will be held on Thursday evening, 6 p.m. in the Ourant Funeral Home. Rev. Sonny Ramsay will conduct the services. Burial will follow at a later date at West Lawn Cemetery, Newcomerstown. Visiting hours will also be held in the funeral home on Thursday, beginning at 4 p.m. until the 6 p.m. funeral. The family is requesting that memorials be made in Patsy's name to the Community Hospice of Tuscarawas, Carroll, and Stark Counties, 716 Commercial Ave. SW, New Philadelphia 44663.
