Paul D. Stutzman 1925-2016
age 91, Millersburg, Ohio went home to be with the Lord Saturday evening, May 7, 2016 at Pomerene Hospital, Millersburg, Ohio following a sudden illness. He was born April 10, 1925 in Millersburg, Ohio and was the son of David J. and Frances (Kauffman) Stutzman. On December 4, 1947 he married Sovilla S. Troyer and she survives.
Paul retired from Mount Hope Elevator after working 40 years, he then worked for Weaver Leather. He was a member of the Zion Conservative Mennonite Church. Paul loved singing and sang in a trio. He wrote poetry and loved to travel. Paul was known as "Whistling Paul".
Surviving in addition to his wife of 68 years are five children, Carolyn (JR) Hostetler of Holmesville, Ohio, Paul V. Stutzman of Berlin, Ohio, Gladys (Paul) Weaver of Millersburg, Ohio, Pearl (Merv) Barkman of Sugarcreek, Ohio and Glenda (Wayne) Wengerd of Millersburg, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, Marc, Ryan and Troy Hostetler, Melissa Saunders, Rodrick Stutzman, Kristin Thomas, Eugene Weaver, Jennifer Kurtz, Stephanie Shrock, Jodi Knotts, Derrick Wengerd, Tonia Hostetler and Kelly Garber; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother, David D. Stutzman of Sugarcreek, Ohio; sister-in-law, Mary Stutzman of Millersburg, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Henry, Roman, Marion, Andrew and John Stutzman; Three Sisters, Elizabeth Troyer, Anna Swartzentruber and Sarah Hershberger; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Stutzman.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Martins Creek Mennonite Church with Bishop Levi Miller officiating. Burial will take place at Zion Conservative Mennonite Church Cemetery, Benton, Ohio. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Alexander Funeral Home Millersburg, Ohio.
