Aaron Cadman Obituary

Cadman, Aaron Bruce BRUNSWICK In twenty short years, Aaron Bruce Cadman packed in a lifetime of experiences while impacting the lives of many. With his unexpected passing on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, Aaron leaves a lifetime of memories for his parents, Bruce and Deborah Cadman; and his devoted sister, Hanna to share with all whose lives he touched including his aunts and uncles, his cousins and his friends near and far. He attended The Doane Stuart School through fifth grade, graduated from LaSalle Institute in Troy and started taking classes just this past week at Nashua Community College, in pursuit of a degree focused on aviation and technology. His passion for flying grew as he took flying lessons over the past several years in an effort to obtain his pilot's license with a goal of knowing not only how to fly the plane but also how to build it and maintain it. Aaron's interest in learning coupled with his curiosity about the way things worked were the challenges he enjoyed most in undertaking because of the communication, imagination and technical skills required, all which he possessed. He had an ability to contemplate solutions and analyze problems by taking the time to do the research required to find an answer (or two). He spent countless hours working on his quad, carefully taking it apart and putting it back together (and did the same for many of his other friends). More hours and time were spent on his truck and on keeping the house hold equipment in usable shape, no matter their age and in many cases way beyond their expected life cycle. Of course he also relished jumping off cliffs on Lake George, climbing rocks along the Marginal Way in Ogunquit, Maine, riding dirt bikes and quads, and trying anything new (especially those with risk). Also, he had a love for hockey which began at an early age, not just for the game but for the many friends he made while playing on many different travel teams all over the Northeast and at LaSalle Institute where his preference to pass rather than shoot were indicative of the "team member" role that he liked. Aaron's family would like to extend their most sincere thanks and gratitude to all those who have thought about and prayed for Aaron during his lifetime, to all those teachers and coaches and mentors who played a major role in his development and to all the professional addiction counselors who shared their support with and encouragement for Aaron for so long. In lieu of flowers the Cadman family asks that those we know and those who loved Aaron consider helping in way possible those who are afflicted with the disease of addiction and who are in need of food and shelter. Aaron was proud of the commitment he made to work at staying recovered. During the last several months of his life Aaron spent time doing just that-by speaking to those in detox units and others in rehabilitation facilities, performing community service and reaching out to those who wanted to hear from others who were walking in their shoes. Contributions to St. Augustine's Food Pantry, located at 25 115th St., Troy, NY 12182, would be appreciated. A graveside service and burial will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy, officiated by Pastor Anthony Solomon, a longtime friend of the family. Please begin arriving at 9:45 a.m. using the Oakwood Avenue gate (186 Oakwood Ave., Troy, NY 12182 for GPS) to join the procession.

Deb, Bruce and Hanna,

We are so sorry for the loss of your son Aaron. I remember so many of the stories that Deb told me about him as we talked between classes. Thinking of him brings the words of A.E. Housman to mind:

"The time you won your town the race
We chaired you through the Market-place;
Man and boy stood cheering by,
And home we brought you shoulder-high.

Today, the road all runners come,
Shoulder-high we bring you home,
And set you at your threshold down,
Townsman of a stiller town. . . . "

Michelle and I pray for peace in your heart and grace in your home.

"Parting is such sweet sorrow."
