Alfred Zeronda Obituary

Zeronda, Alfred J. GUILDERLAND Alfred J. "Al" Zeronda, 84, formerly of Burnt Hills, died peacefully February 5, 2007 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, Guilderland. Alfred was born in Chicopee Falls, Mass., the son of the late John and Antonina Zeronda. Al served as a medic on the USS Hope in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Decorations and citations received were the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, World War II Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and the American Campaign Medal. After completion of service in 1945, Mr. Zeronda returned to Albany. In 1953, he founded the Kurver Ice Cream Store in Colonie, N.Y., which he operated until he retired in 1982. Al can be best known for his convivial personality. He is survived by his son, William Zeronda and his wife Kim of Clifton Park; daughters, Patricia Rozdolski and her husband Michael of Guilderland and Lynn Zeronda of Clifton Park; five grandchildren, Jason Zeronda and his wife Stephanie of Halfmoon, Tyler and Rhein Zeronda of Clifton Park, Mikki-Jo Rozdolski of Guilderland and Justin Rozdolski of Portland, Ore.; his sister, Carrie Pisani of Latham; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Al is also survived by his closest personal friends, Sal Fiato and Tom Ward. He was predeceased by his brothers, Edward and Francis Zeronda. A service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., East Glenville. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 6-8 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment with full military honors will be held Friday 1:00 p.m. in Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery, Schuylerville, N.Y. Those attending should be at the visitors center at 12:45 p.m. Memorial contributions in Alfred J. Zeronda's name are requested to be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205.
