Andrew Darcy Obituary

Darcy, Andrew NEW LEBANON On the morning of May 29, 2016, Andrew William Darcy of New Lebanon, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 14, 1981, he grew up and became known as the gentle giant with a heart of gold. He was a graduate of New Lebanon Central School District where he was loved by all his teachers. He excelled at sports playing basketball, soccer and his favorite baseball. After his school years he went on to work for his uncle's construction business as a heavy equipment operator until his death. Andrew had a love and passion from a young age for the outdoors that molded him into an avid hunter and fisherman. He spent much of his life either in a tree stand or throwing a line in the water. When he was not outdoors he spent countless hours in his barn with his closest friends. He loved motorsports. He extremely enjoyed motocross bikes, rebuilding three wheelers and snowmobiling. He also had a mild wild side. He was renowned to be the party at any event and was loved by all who crossed his path. He loved his family very much and love spending time camping swimming and sitting by the fire sharing stories. He leaves the love of his life Heather McLaughlin Darcy whom he married in 2008; their children, Patrick McLaughlin, Lexi McLaughlin and Tyler Darcy who is also known as a gentle giant. His loving parents, Kevin Darcy, Donna VanTassel; his sisters, Tara Darcy Crawley, Megan Darcy, Samantha Darcy, Cassie Hotaling Coburn; and his loving brother, Michael Hotaling. He leaves grandparents, aunts, uncles and many nieces, nephews and cousins who all loved him dearly. Andrew was predeceased by his loving step-mother, Brenda Berry Darcy; along with his longtime childhood friend and brother-in-law, Adam Crawley. Services will be held Friday, June 3, at the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St., Nassau. Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. followed by a celebration of his life beginning at 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Canaan Conservation Club 779 Frisbee St. PO Box 363, Canaan NY 12029 in support of their youth hunting programs and fishing tournaments for which he attended throughout his childhood and taught his children to be passionate about.
