Anthony Melucci Obituary

Melucci, Anthony "Tony" J. RALEIGH, N.C. Anthony "Tony" J. Melucci will be forever remembered as a strong, kind, generous and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He died on February 28, 2022, in Raleigh, N.C., at age 93, after relocating from Albany to be closer to his daughter, son and their families, and to enjoy the much warmer weather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Rose Melucci; and sister, Julia Villani. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Nancy; five children, John (Marianne), Diane (TJ), Paul (Glory Ann), Anthony, and Lisa (Jono) Davies; four grandchildren, Sean (Elizabeth) and Joseph Melucci and Vincent and Raven Davies; brother, Jerry; and many close nieces and nephews. He was born and raised (and danced the jitterbug) in the Village of West Albany, and was a long-standing member of the Italian Benevolent Society. He was a certified optician, sharp dresser and enjoyed the simple things in life. You might hear Tony describe someone as "a great dancer, made all her own clothes." His passions included working through N.Y. Times crossword puzzles, reading a good book (especially mysteries and even horror), catching a good movie, playing bocce ball, tending to a garden or house plant, listening to jazz, and cooking and eating great food (especially pasta!). He taught us the importance of good conversation. He especially loved sitting around a table - didn't matter if it was in the kitchen, dining room, garage, or an island - engaged in conversation and/or games with family and friends (Pokeno was a favorite). He touched many lives, especially with his big smile and great sense of humor. A service with celebration is planned for mid-June in Albany.
