What a lovely obituary. This lady saved my life from sure misery and pain by being an incredible, kind, smart, psychotherapist for me. She worked with me intensly for four years and profoundly changed my life's trajectory. I cannot be more grateful for her role in my life. I am forever in debt to this wonderful woman.

Until I read this beautiful obituary, I had no idea that Barbara led such an accomplished life and that she contributed to such varied communities. But I´m not surprised.
In my own tiny way, I remember her well from a weekly writing workshop we both attended. She was especially kind to me. She would take me aside after the workshop ended and speak to me privately about the things I shared with the group. Very supportive and affirming, and I don´t think she realized how much her gentle treatment meant to me, how helpful she was "just by being herself."
I also remember her writing project based on her family tree. A massive task, actually. But I do recall she was putting together her memories and lineage for her family, which was most generous. And I hope she accomplished what she set out to do. In one way or another, it sounds like she did.
My condolences to all Barbara held close.

To Barbara's family: What a passionate genealogist! What a compelling writer! In the memoir class at Howe Library in Albany, she chronicled the long life she'd led, bringing vividly to us the cast of important people that made the child, the adolescent, and the woman she became. We were privileged to know her. Our hearts are with you. Paul Lamar

Barbara Quint made the world a better place, and she made my world a a better place. Especially but not only because of that Twinkle and those Earnestly Cute Remarks.

I was one of Barbara's clients in a group therapy setting for a number of years. She was a terrific therapist who definitely improved my life.
My condolences to her family and friends.
