Castaldi, Bernard
TROY - Bernard D. Castaldi, 81, passed away at home, on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of Bernard and Ida (Osinski) Castaldi.
A 1962 graduate of Mohonasen High School, Bernard then attended Cobleskill College. He worked for the Air National Guard in Scotia for 29 years. While living in Greenville, S.C., he worked for the BMW plant in Spartanburg, S.C. After returning to N.Y., he worked for Seagroatt Riccardi, delivering flowers until he retired in 2020. He loved spending time bowling and playing golf.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Victoria Wheeler Castaldi of Troy; two children, David Castaldi of Rotterdam and Laura Castaldi of Scotia; two grandchildren, Shane and Teigan; two sisters, Maureen (Don) Nero of Guilderland and Judy (Brice) Barnes of Dallas, Texas; three stepchildren, Edward Rinaldi, Kelly Rinaldi and Connie Sweeney; four step-grandchildren, Ava Sweeney, Jordan Rinaldi, Emma Rinaldi and Mia Sweeney.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, from 10 a.m. -12 noon, at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam.
A 12 noon funeral service will immediately follow.
Burial with military honors will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Bernard's memory to the Schenectady Salvation Army Food Pantry or the Scotia Animal Protective Foundation.
