Betty Haskell Obituary

Haskell, Betty A. GLENMONT Betty Alice (Chipman) Haskell, 83, passed away September 28, 2012 peacefully in her home in Glenmont after a short illness. She was predeceased in death by her husband, Donald, and her parents, William and Fanny Chipman. She is survived by her son, David (Diane) Haskell; daughter, Andrea Haskell; three grandchildren, Patrick Haskell, Kelly (Matthew) Peczka, Christopher Haskell and great-grandchild, Ayden Peczka. Betty was born in Northampton, Mass. on May 10, 1929. She grew up in Easthampton, Mass., and attended Easthampton High School, graduating in 1948. She attended Northampton Commercial College. She married her late husband, Donald, at the Providence Methodist Church in Easthampton on February 4, 1956. She worked as a secretary for United Elastic and Smith College. Then she began a career in the Postal Service at the Southampton Post Office, becoming Postmaster of South Lee, Mass. in 1987. She retired and resided in Lenox, Mass., before moving to Glenmont in 1998. She was a member of the Saratoga Arts, Bethlehem Art Association and a loyal Red Sox Fan. She was a beautiful artist, doing oil and watercolor paintings as well as equine sculptures. She loved her horses, traveling to Kentucky yearly to attend art classes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saratoga Arts of Saratoga. The family will be having a private service.
