Christine Peters Obituary

Peters, Christine
GUILDERLAND -
Christine Peters, 55, left this world on January 13, 2025, to go home to her Lord after a courageous four and a half year battle with cancer. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Michael Peters; her loving son, Finn; her mother, Mary Jean Kolak; sister, Karen (Dennis) Lane; and brother, Michael Kolak. She is the dear sister-in-law of Beth (Steven) Psutka, Kris (Michael) Hickey, Walter (Rebecca) Peters, and Sue Ellen Peters. Christine also leaves behind five nephews, a niece, and many extended family members.
Chris was born and raised in Guilderland. She was a graduate of Guilderland High School, SUNY Schenectady and SUNY Albany, where she earned her master's degree in social work. She truly cared about people and their struggles, even from a young age, so her career helping families in crisis was a fitting one. The achievement she was most proud of, however, was being a loving wife, and devoted mother to her son, Finn. Family was her priority, and she was happiest when she could have a positive impact on others.
Chris found true inspiration and peace when immersed in her Catholic faith and her church community became an incredible comfort to her. She was a wonderful friend with a quick wit and terrific sense of humor! She had many special friendships that went back to her very early years, a testament to the kind of person she was. She could always make you laugh even in the toughest of times. Her legacy was one of kindness and incredible strength as she bravely battled her cancer diagnosis. She handled every hurdle with grace and her trademark sense of humor. She will be missed so very much by everyone.
A funeral Mass to honor Chris's incredible journey will be held at St. Matthew's Church, 25 Mountainview St., Voorheesville, on Wednesday, January 22, at 11 a.m. Contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in her name would be deeply appreciated.

I only knew Christine for around 2 years, but her outpouring of love was more than most people shared in a lifetime. Her suffering is now over and she is with the Lord now. Peace be with you. Christine.

my heart is in a million pieces
I knew Christine through our faith we shared and journeyed together at St Matthews and St Thomas . She was special to all who knew her. She brought her unselfish love to all. She cheered me up many times while she suffered this merciless disease . We would meet for breakfast . We connected spiritually. We always smiled and embraced when we saw each other. She made an indelible mark on me and I will carry her in my heart forever. My deepest sympathies to her wonderful devoted husband Michael and to the apple of her eye their son Finn. God Bless you my friend . I will forever love you .

My heart is broken in a million pieces.. The day I met you at St Matts, I knew you were a very special person and as I got to know you through our many chats either on the phone or at Church and lunch dates, your warm heart and lending shoulder I cherished. I know our faith in Christ was where our friendship grew and therefore it will be eternal.. God Bless and prayers to Mike , Finn and all those who knew this angel on Earth . This is her baptism photo with Father Rick taken on 9/17/22. I will forever love you, Christine, and will carry you in my heart always.
