Norma, Danny, Kelly, Jimmy, & Dawn,
I just heard about Dan, and your Dad, this morning while getting ready for work.
I first met Dan and Norma when I babysat for the kids, as we lived in the same neighborhood. Dan & Norma were a beautiful couple, and their children were a delight to babysit for.
I have many wonderful memories of the Keating family, and the utmost respect for a man who was a hero to me as a kid of 13 years.
Babysitting for someone who was a State Trooper is very special, but he was BCI when I knew him. I was very proud to be entrusted with his children.
I have wonderful memories to treasure.

There is not much I can say about Dan that has not already been said. Gentleman, honest, dedicated, fair are all words that accurately describe Dan, and I should add loving family man as well. I was lucky to have served with Dan in the State Police for many years. This is truly a great loss for everyone. They do not make them like Dan anymore. Dan, you have always been "THE MAN" and you will be missed.

I was so sorry to hear of Dan's passing. I had the pleasure to have worked in the capacity of his secretary when he was a Senior Investigator in charge of the NYSP BCI in Loudonville. I always told everyone throughout my career, that I learned it all from Dan. I will always remember how lovingly he spoke of "SWEET NORMA" and how his face would light up whenever he spoke of each of his children. He was especially proud of the size of Dawn's feet - LOL. His love of his family was shown each and every day I worked with him. It was truly my honor to have shared a small portion of his career with him and to have him as a friend. Always remember - "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, Love leaves a memory no one can steal"

I'm very sorry to hear of the passing of your husband/father, Sheriff Keating. He was truly an honorable and respectful man. I will always cherish the fact that he appointed me Civil Captain at the very tender age of 23.
Sheriff Keating I can't thank you enough for what you did for me, you will always have a special place in my heart for that reason. You gave me the break and opportunity this inner city Troy Housing Project kid could only wish for. You and Undersheriff Dwyer took me under you wings, helped develop me into what I am today. You instilled such qualities as kindness, respect, attention to detail, professional appearance, etc. that all mankind should strive to attain.
You may be gone … but YOU WILL NEVER BE forgotten. RIP!!
