Daniel Krouner Obituary

Krouner, Daniel H.
ALBANY - Daniel H. Krouner, 89, passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 2, 2023. Born in Albany on November 17, 1933, he is the son of the late Louis and Clara Krouner.
Danny was a graduate of Albany High School, class of 1951, and would go on to earn his bachelor's degree from Cornell University School of Hotel Management, class of 1955. While at Cornell, he was also a member of the men's basketball team. Danny was also president of Beta Sigma Rho fraternity.
Danny met his wife Arlene in high school when Danny was a hot shot basketball player and Arlene a fiery cheerleader on the sidelines. The two married in 1955 and spent 67 years by each other's side. Building a family and life together, they were consumed by each other's love. Danny's favorite activity was making Arlene happy up until the day he died.
After graduating Cornell University Hotel School, Danny spent the early part of his career working hotel jobs in the Northeast and made his way to Boston. Working there until he opened his own restaurant, The Premier, feeding Boston locals and members of the Boston Celtics. Following his time in Boston Danny became the director of food service for Arlington International Raceway in Chicago. And after an extensive career in hospitality, Danny moved to a new role working for the state of New York until his retirement at the age of 83. Danny's lifelong love of sports led him to routing on his New England Patriots and his beloved Boston Celtics, whom he was a loyal season ticket holder of for 55 years. His loyalty to the Celtics was honored at a ceremony at The James Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. Danny enjoyed spending his summer days at The Saratoga Racetrack and evenings at The Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
He will be remembered by his family as an honest, dependable, loving, charismatic, hard-working, funny, and above all, humble man, who loved his family dearly.
Danny is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Arlene Krouner; his brother, Paul Krouner; his children, Andrew (Susan) Krouner, Scott Krouner, Mitchell (Diane) Krouner and Dayna Nicles; his cherished grandchildren, Derek (Brooke) Krouner, Alex (Leticia) Krouner, Shaina Krouner, Dakota Krouner, Samantha (James) Aitken, Zoe Krouner, Lily Nicles, Jillian Krouner; great-grandchildren, Ava, Beatrice, Beck and Aurora. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews and dear friends. In addition to his parents, Danny was predeceased by his sister, Risa Ann Krouner Kassoff.
Funeral services for Danny will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, February 6 at Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Ave., Albany. Burial will follow at Temple Israel Cemetery, 1620 Western Ave. in Guilderland.
