COLONIE - David M. Montesano, 64, passed away at St. Peter's Hospital on December 28, 2024, from a confluence of health issues. Dave was born in Albany, N.Y. in 1960, to the late George A. Montesano, Sr. and Margaret J. (Foley) Montesano.
David greatly enjoyed fishing - especially for salmon - hunting, and destroying softballs while playing in the fireman's league. He took great pride in his garden, and loved sharing things he grew with family and friends. Dave was a great cook and had the perfect recipe for ribs or homemade sausage, and he was happy to tell you all about it in great detail.
David was a lifetime member of the Fuller Road Fire Department, which he joined at the age of 18, following the family tradition. He continued his public service as an employee of New York State, holding various positions, retiring as an engineer from the Health Department's Axelrod Laboratories.
David is survived by siblings, Rosemary Giaquinto (Tom), Janice Riccardi, Kathleen Montesano-Ostrander (Jeff), George Montesano, Jr., (Nancy) and Freda Montesano. He is also survived by his lifelong friend, Victor Savage, who greatly improved the quality of his life, and who exemplifies the word friend. He was predeceased by siblings and in-laws, Joseph Montesano, Elaine and Wayne Dragon, Raymond Riccardi, and Mary Anne Montesano.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours Saturday afternoon, January 4, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., at the Fuller Road F.D. Banquet Hall, 1342 Central Ave., Colonie. Service at 4:00.
