Dianna L. Gilbert

Gilbert, Dianna L. FRANKLIN, N.C.Dianna L. (Belding) Gilbert, 65, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2016, at Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Zion, Ill., surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Robert and Edith Belding on July 16, 1951, in Santa Maria, Calif., and grew up in Hyde Park, N.Y., where she graduated from F.D.R. High School. She received a B.A. from The University of Arizona, and then worked with her father in the family business, Belding Typesetting. After he retired, she settled in Albany and worked as an administrative assistant. She also worked part time at Weight Watchers for many years where she provided inspiration and support to many members. She moved to Franklin, in 2006 where she selflessly devoted herself to caring for her parents and most recently worked at Southwestern Community College in Sylva, N.C. She loved camping and hiking with the family and was especially fond of the ocean especially Long Island and various locations in Florida. Other interests included golf, exercise, shopping, ocean cruises, romantic comedies and cooking. For all who knew her, they will remember a loving, caring and kind person. She was very compassionate towards animals and loved doting on her "grandcats." Most of all she loved spending time with friends and family and could engage you in conversation and laughter for hours. She is survived by her mother, Edith Belding of Franklin; daughters, Amy Gilbert of San Diego and Molly Gilbert of Albany; brother, Jeffrey; sister-in-law, Edwina Belding of Albany; aunt, Ellinor Billick of Titusville, Fla. and many beloved cousins. A memorial service will be held at The Crossings of Colonie, 580 Albany-Shaker Rd., Loudonville, on August 29, 2016, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kitten Angels, 233 Houseman St., Mayfield NY 12117-3948.
