To Nick and the Connor Family. I am so upset to hear such a wonderful man has been taken from us. I have known Doug for many years. My daughter Cassie started taking gymnastics at DC when she was 5 years old. She is now 28, and she had just stopped in to see him about a month ago, and I had ran into him at the gas station. I hadn't seen him in many years. I guess it was ment to be that I got to see him, and give him a hug one last time He was one of a kind. Oh how he will be missed. Nick, all I can say is you gotta be very very proud to have had a Dad like him. And I am sure he is very proud of you. My heart goes out to you and your family at this time. I know he is watching over you all.... I am so sorry I missed the wake, but I had just heard this horrible news a few hours ago or I would have been there. Hugs to you all, and God Bless...

Doug helped to form our sons into strong athletes, students and successful young men. Doug taught more then gymnastics, he taught strength of character. We wish Nick and the DC Gymnastics family success as they move forward in Dougs memory.

Doug was a part of my life for about 30 years. Mostly as a gymnast, but then as a boss and finally a friend. I learned many lessons from him. I am so sorry I missed the service, but I was needed at my daughter's gym meet. Your legacy lives on. Thank you.

Doug was my high school coach at Linton back in '81. I have many, many fond memories of Doug and the fun times we spent together. I never really thought of him as being only 10 years older than me. He was always just Coach. He introduced me to so many fun things: gymnastics, water skiing, bridge jumping, "Jeepin", Empire State Games and the occasional Miller beer. Someone else summed it up very well. Above all, he had good heart. My condolences to the family. Please add me to the list of people whose life Doug touched in a positive way.

My family and I are saddened by Doug's passing. Doug coached my daughter, Rebecca, for the first few years of her gymnastics career. He was a great coach and a great person. From our experience with Doug, he not only taught the physical skills needed for the beautiful sport of gymnastics, but the mental and emotional aspects, as well. He coached with positive reinforcement and instilled confidence. Doug taught how to win gracefully and lose gracefully. Doug had a great spirit during the years we knew him.

To the Connor Family,
I have known Doug for at least 30 years and was devastated when I heard the news of his passing. I own the Gymnastics Training Center in Rochester, NY and have seen Doug produce talented gymnasts year after year and know how many lives he has touched. Words can not express the sorrow that I felt when I heard the news. I just saw Doug at Congress in August and we shared many laughs. I will remember these days always. Please call me if there is anything I can do to help you, your kids, or the gym. Know there are people out there that are only a phone call away. Don't be afraid to ask. My cell is 585-734-3770 and the gym number is 585-388-8686. My prayers are with you at this difficult time.
