Ellen Soffey Obituary
ALBANY - Ellen "Sis" Banker Soffey, 81, a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend, died on Friday, April 28, 2023, in Naples, Fla., after a short illness.
Born and raised in Albany, Ellen was a graduate of the Vincentian Institute. She was employed by the State of New York and retired from the Student Loan Services Department.
Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Soffey Jr.; parents, Edward and Helen Banker; brother, Peter Banker; and son-in-law, David Parker. Ellen is survived by her daughters, Laura (Albert) Spada of Westport, Conn., Kim Soffey (Paul Cully) of Scottsdale, Ariz., Kate Soffey (Stuart Cleary) of London, U.K., and Beth Parker of Wilmette, Ill.; and her grandchildren, Matthew Spada, Katherine Spada, Sage Parker and Quinn Cleary.
Funeral services will be on Friday, May 19, at 9 a.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Church, 607 Central Ave. (Father John Bradley Way), Albany, where her memorial funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal will be held in St. Agnes Cemetery immediately following the funeral Mass.

Ellen always had the greatest laugh and smile. I will never forget her. Something we use to say to each other, "I didn't did it" and we would laugh!

Mrs. Soffey was my Girl Scout Leader. My mom considered her a good friend. Our family sends our warmest prayers and thoughts to the Soffey daughters.

Sheila and I always loved being with Sis, beginning in our high school years and continuing all the following years including the past 15 in Florida. There we enjoyed watching her beam when she updated us with news of her children and grandchildren. There was no doubt her love ran very deep.
