Ethel Falls Obituary

Falls, Ethel
SPARKS, Nev. - The passing into Eternal Rest, of Ethel May Brett Falls, August 2, 2025, in Sparks, Nev., is noted. Mrs. Falls was predeceased by her beloved husband, Norton Horr Falls, on September 11, 2001. Born on November 8, 1929 in Manheim, Pennsylvania, she was also predeceased by her beloved father, John Perry Brett; and mother, Ethel Josephine Carnegie Brett; and much loved brother, Perry Allen Brett.
After a childhood in Pennsylvania studying painting, she enrolled in Syracuse University art classes. Before graduation she enlisted in the U.S. Navy WAVES, and served as a dental assistant in San Diego during the Korean conflict. There, she met Norton, who was on active duty in the U.S. Navy, and they married in 1952. Upon Norton's discharge from active service, they moved to Boston in 1953, and then to Albany, N.Y., in 1956. A member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, and the Embroiderers' Guild of America, she had a deep love of textile arts, learned from her mother. She also enjoyed painting classes with Rudy Helmo in the early 60s, and volunteering at the Albany Institute of History and Art, and Child's Hospital, during the 80s. She served on the Board of Trustees of Nelson House as well.
A faithful booster of both the Albany Academy (AA) and the Albany Academy for Girls (AAG), she was proud to serve in the AA Parents' Association, and to become an honorary alumna of AAG in 1982, as well as attend AA football games during the 80s.
Survived by her daughter; son; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Any memorials donated to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, in Albany, N.Y., would be gratefully received.
