My deepest sympathy at your loss, Mrs. Kosarovich.

Eugene was among the nicest people I've ever met. His selfless assistance to video professionals is unprecedented. The loss to our community is staggering.

I never saw Eugene when he wasn't enjoying life to the fullest.

I am forever indebted to him not only for his friendship and assistance but for the example of a life well lived.

Dear Mrs. Kosarovich --

Over the many, many years I have know Eugene I always found him to be one of the most unusual and fun, as well as humorous, people I've met.

You should be very proud of the many accomplishments Eugene had made and the contributions he made to the lives of all who knew him.

I consider myself lucky to have known him and appeared on stage with him at the RPI Players and with other groups too.

Although I hadn't seen Eugene in a number of years, ironically we ran into each other one night a couple of weeks ago.

He was his usual jovial self.

Eugene will be greatly missed by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

Dear Mrs Kosarovich,

My deepest sympathies at this difficult time.

My friendship with your magnificent son spanned to England. We shared quite a lot over the last decade and that only increased over recent years.

I'm pleased he found such success in everything he did.

The other year we shared how when he was younger he had developed a communications suite for the Digital Equipment Corp PDP-11 mini mainframe upon RSTS/E (now lodged with DECUS, not unlike the Smithsonian for computers). The software was called Parlez. It sounded fantastic and so pioneering in its day. Of course, I'm scratching the surface. So much more abilities and friendships were made in science, technology and art.

Eugene brought a perfect blend of instinct, ability and finesse. Never wasting what could be fixed. Loving science and topics that looked to the future. Being ecstatic when the future was told with believable accuracy.

Eugene was masterful. He had visionary skills based on hard facts he gleaned and with what he had deduced he made suitable and sensible investments. It was lovely to see him being right each time.

He ran his business with accuracy and he left us smiling as he restrained himself from many tempting splurges until year end. Somehow I shared in his pleasure because of what he enthused and the effort he'd spent planning for his interests to move on to the next level.

He shared so much of his technical achievements with whole rafts of people and individually. He describe the whys and wherefores and merits of what he had in his kit bag.

Also he shared when he was having a sparkle of love in his life and how he hoped for events to unfold. I remember his excitement on at least one occasion when they did. Bless Eugene.

What a generous man I'll now miss. He would always ask the most interesting questions about my part of the world. It was as if he was unsatisfied by what he had previously read or watched. A healthy dissatisfaction.

He rightfully wanted the world to have the same dedication to doing things right in the same way as he employed as he went about his day.

Many I know listened to Eugene and I'd expect will continue to hear his voice/words when they go about their work. I will.

'Always doing the best that you can' is what I'll go away with from what we had from our years with Eugene. Not his actual words, he led by example - so it was clearly spoken in many other ways.

By associating every opportunity to do better with it being a 'Eugene moment' seems fitting. So as to never forget the man that was and the soul that is.

One of Eugene's:
"I am an actor, I have the right shooting instincts"

I am proud to have known Eugene. EWK's brightness shines on.

If only there was a word one could write that would hug you. God bless you Mrs Kosarovich.

Also may God bless your family and all those many friends.

My condolences to Eugene's family. Only met him once at NAB last year. He was a joy to be around and talk with. I share the passion he had for video. He will certainly be missed by all of his video friends. He loved to share his knowledge and always wanted to make things better. A great guy that will truly be missed.

Mrs. Kosarovich,
What I will remember most about Eugene are his irrepressible good humor and his absolute dedication to whatever he set himself to. As a choreographer I found him to be one of the most dedicated actors I've ever worked with. As a production team member I found him to be one of the best producers I've ever worked with.

I am still processing this loss since it just doesn't seem possible that he is gone.

Please accept my condolences and my prayers.

What an absoulute shock. Eugene and I spent our high school years together, drifted apart after I'd moved out of state, but we always managed to stay in touch every few years. He was even able to attend my wedding in Florida.

I'll always remember your easy smile and infectious laugh. It's too soon to say good-bye to you...

Mrs. K, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Eugene was definitely one of a kind. He was always quick to help everyone with his incredible knowledge and expertise.

Although I never met him in person, he was a great and giving friend. We shared a passion for videography, editing, and acting. I've been in contact with him for over 12 years through different online forums and email.

We will all miss him very much.

I'm trying to gather my thoughts. While I was awaiting for a reply from
Eugene today, I saw these posts. I am beyond shocked and deeply saddened. He
was one of my mentors for both VT and Vegas. Though we also never actually
meet, we had spoken several times on the phone. He was gifted and talented,
and knew his stuff very well. To say he will be missed is an understatement.
This is a great loss to the VT and Vegas communities. I'm sorry, but 42 is
just way too young. Maybe a wakeup call for some of us. My thoughts and
prayers will be with his family. I will truly miss you, Eugene!

Always willing to help me out - I will forever be grateful to Eugene - generous to a fault with his time, energy and passion for being a computer genius! I will miss him and our chats on the phone till my phone's low battery beeps... kind of an inside thing between us.

My heart goes out to Mrs. Kosarvoich, as a mother myself, I can not begin to imagine the loss.

I will miss you, my friend, and will feel you with me while I edit!

My husband, Gene, and I worked with Eugene several times with Circle Theatre Players, where he introduced us to you, and always enjoyed his outgoing friendliness and enthusiasm, as well as his artistic ability in both acting and videotaping. He will be missed by us and his many, many other friends in the community threater world, and we send our sincere sympathy for your loss.

As one of the first people who helped Eugne find his love of performing (in 4th grade) I always see him as this blond/blue eyed mini Elton John. Even most recently when he started singing in McDonald's much to everyones' surprise. I am glad we got to reminiss again and know now he is singing with God's angels.

NAB 2009 - After a long, and really hectic day in the NewTek booth, I was headed back to the hotel, and so was standing in a very long line to get my monorail pass from the vending machine.

A smiling Eugene Kosarovich walks up and holds up his week-long rail pass, and beams that he doesn't have to wait in line to get his ticket, because he planned ahead.
He immediately starts sharing his reflections on the latest tech offerings at this year's show, and continues to update me on the day's exciting finds until we arrive at the Kiosk and I get my ticket.

We take the escalator up to the platform and see a huge crowd packed on the platform for the next train headed west to the strip.
With a twinkle in his eye, he says, "I know a faster way - follow me."

Eugene leads me to the other end of the platform, and tells me we're gonna
catch the next train going the other way.

"Um, okay."

Sure enough, a monorail pulls up headed to the Hilton. We board, and he excitedly explains how even though it's counter-intuitive, we only have to go the wrong way for one stop. We get off in a minute at the Hilton, and almost immediately, another monorail arrives, headed back toward our hotel.
Since the Hilton platform was mostly empty, we got on and got a seat before the car filled up with the departing NAB attendees.

"See? It is faster."
. . .
For all the time we've been friends, Eugene reminded me of a character in Loony Tunes.
Do you remember Spike the bulldog? No, not him, Eugene was like Spikes'
ever-present and ebullient friend, Chester the Terrier.
Eugene was always bouncing, always animated, full of optimism, easy to laughter and ALWAYS seeking a faster way.

Eugene was well-known and respected by many here at NewTek, and there was concern when he decided there was something in our software that could be better or could be faster for the users. The concern was Eugene's pin-pointed and tenacious focus. He was unceasing in his constant lobbying to make it faster, and make it better.

Eugene was my friend for more than a decade, and both of us shared a passion for storytelling.
Whether it was video production, stage performances, or even writing the definitive guide in MPEG-2 transcoding, Eugene was always sharing and adding to the world.

As keen as he was with detail and accuracy, he was also a very caring person, and even when his editing needs took him to another software package, Eugene never left this community - the Toaster folks. He still had so much to share with everyone about the best camera or the fastest way to create the best DVD encode. He always took great joy in sharing time-saving tips with everyone who would listen. He shared because he cared - about us.

I'll miss you my friend - I'm saving a seat on the monorail for you, ok?

I acted with Eugene in both film and theater, and saw him in his own other performances. And for most of my other plays, he was often there not just as videographer, but completely engaged with the cast and crew. What a pleasant, wonderful guy to be around. I'll always remember his great smile and laugh.

Eugene wrote thousands of entries in the mail list "VTNT" about the NewTek VT[5] and SpeedEdit - both used in the video business - and always signed off his entries with "EWK". He was looked up to as an authority on those products and many others. If we needed help with a problem we could count on him to give us the answer. Not sure if anyone can take his place - he will be missed by so many of us.

Rest in Peace my friend.
