Frank Gutta Obituary

Gutta, Frank Sr.
CLIFTON PARK - Frank S. Gutta Sr., age 92, of Clifton Park, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at the Eddy Village Green in Cohoes, N.Y.
Born in 1932, in Johnstown, N.Y., he was the son of the late Charles and Domenica Gutta; and was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Carrol V. Gutta; and his granddaughter, Olivia Erhardt.
Frank graduated from Siena College in 1954, then served in the United States Army Reserves through 1957. In 1958, he began his 42-year career as a Claims Representative for the Social Security Administration, where he met his wife. They married in 1963. During this time, he was the Treasurer of the Local AFGE Union 3343 for 28 years, the longest serving AFGE Treasurer in the country.
He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Crescent, serving on the parish council. He was active in Boy Scouts for over 30 years and loved to spend summer at Camp Saratoga. He was a membership coordinator for the American Italian Heritage Association in Albany, and a proud Italian American. He was an avid reader, a lifelong photographer having done aerial photography while in the Army Reserves, and enjoyed live jazz. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, with a signature spaghetti sauce that was much loved by all.
Frank has graciously donated his body to the anatomical gift program at Albany Medical Center, to further medical education and knowledge.
He is survived by his children, Joan (Mark) Erhardt, Charles (Karen) Gutta, Claire (Gardner) O'Flynn, and Frank Gutta, Jr. Frank was the proud and loving grandfather of eight grandchildren: Adam (Victoria) and Jacob (Lisa) Gutta, Sophia Erhardt (Peter) Carr, and Declan, Aidan, Aubrey, and Tess O'Flynn; and three great-grandchildren: Alex and Leo Gutta, and Annie Gutta.

I worked with Frank at Social Security both in Schenectady and then in Troy. He was always so kind and helpful to me as well as a fun guy. Went to his families home in Clifton Park for a summer cook out once as well. Lost touch through the years but have always had fond memories.
