George Mogavero Obituary

Mogavero, George Sr. ROTTERDAM George B. Mogavero Sr., 68, beloved husband of Susan Mogavero, passed away suddenly Sunday, November 18, 2007. George was a lifelong Schenectady resident. He was a graduate of Draper High School and Hudson Valley Community College. George was a sergeant first class in the U.S. Army for four years, serving our country overseas. George worked at General Electric for 38 years, proudly retiring in 1999. His greatest gift was his unwavering love for his family. He was a man of great courage, strength and generosity who touched many lives each and every day. He was the type of man who was there when anybody needed him. It did not matter what time, what day, what he had to do, he never said no. He was always there with a smile on his face, ready to help. He will always be remembered as the best husband to his wife, Susan. They were married 44 years. He treated her as the treasure of his life. He was the father of Elena Fehervari and George E Mogavero Jr. and second father to his son-in-law, Steve Fehervari. He was the best father we could ask for. He was always there for us, good or bad, with a smile and a "what can I do attitude". He always put his kids first, ahead of himself. He was always there for us. God took the best "Poppy" from Lauren and Lexi Fehervari! He never missed a school event, a Halloween parade, a soccer game, a special day in their lives. Just picking them up to take them out because he hadn't seen them in a few days will be missed. They made him happy and kept him young. Poppy will be missed every minute of every day for the rest of their lives. George was a member of the Sunnyview Wellness Center. He loved to attend three times a week to work out and see his friends. He always missed St. Clare's cardiac rehab center that closed in 2004. There he also met many friends that started him on his new life after his heart attack. George is survived by his many friends, family, his most special cousins, Frank and Teresa and his pride and joy, his dog Smokey. And, we can't forget George's daily routine, he was always willing to share a cup of coffee with you, and he often did. Friends and family may call Wednesday, November 21 from 4-7 at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady.

Dear Elena, Steve, Sue, George, Lauren, and Lexi;

There are no words to express the loss and the sorrow. He was my second father and another Grandfather to my children. He truly was and always will be an inspiration to us all. When I feel like being grouchy, I just remember his jovial and loving nature and it helps alot. He will remain in all of our memories as the warm, kindhearted spirit that he is and was. I am a better person for knowing him. What a gift that God gave us!! Remember the joy he gave to everyone, hopefully that can make this at least a little easier. We all love you and will miss him dearly,
Laura, Chris, Rachael, and Kayla

Elena, Steve, Lauren, Lexi, Susan & George:

We are very sorry to hear about your loss. George was a very special person with a special gift of making everyone feel like a member of the family. I remember at one of the Fehervari gatherings, by the end of the day our son, Cory, was calling him Poppy. He just had a way about him that made everyone fall in love instantly! We will always remember his fun-loving personality and his infectious laugh.

Our hearts go out to all of you in your time of grief.

Love,
The Shearings

Dear Elena, Steve, Lauren, Lexi, Susan and George,

We are so very sorry for your loss. As neighbors and friends of the family, we came to know George as such a wonderful, kind and caring man. He always made our family feel special. We will miss trick or treating with him in his "funny outfit", rollerskating with him at one of the kids parties, or just seeing his big smile and warmth.

We are lucky to have been touched by his life and will miss him.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Love,

The Pennacchia Family

To the Family of George Mogavero,

We are so sorry for your loss - You will be in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

I met George at St. Clare's Rehab after my heart surgery - he was always smiling, making jokes and talking about his beloved family. If I was having a bad day a hug or a joke from George made it better -I will always carry George's memory in my heart.

He will be missed but never forgotten.

George will be truely missed at the Sunnyview Wellness Center. As a personal trainer in the wellness center I can share with you that he was an inspiration not only the other members but to our staff as well. His dedication to his fitness program was unwavering and was all done with a giant, warm smile and gregarious laugh. I am so glad to have had the pleasure of knowing George, he always made me smile. I'm very sorry for your loss.

I've lost my extra "Dad". George's care and concern for me this year meant so much. I will always be expecting him to come though the door of the office with a smile, a coffee and reminder about "garbage day". I am so fortunate to have been an adopted daughter. Thanks George for everything.
