EAST GREENBUSH - Helen W. O'Brien, 95, of East Greenbush, returned to her family home on Thursday, August 7, after an extended hospital stay, and she passed into the arms of God's mercy and love early Sunday morning, August 10.
Helen, a native of Pittsfield, Mass., was the daughter of the late William and Helen (Gavin) Watson. She was the devoted wife of Joseph O'Brien for 68 years.
She was a devoted Catholic who loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with love beyond measure.
She was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School in Pittsfield, and worked at New England Telephone. As her children grew, she worked at the Leonard Hospital and at Garden Way Manufacturing, both in Troy.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joe; her daughter, Colleen Kovacs; and siblings, William and Janet Watson, Beverly and Frederick Shogry, and Anthony Carmona.
She is survived by her daughters, Deborah O'Brien, Maureen (Ali) Zangeneh and Erin O'Keefe; her sons, Fr. Joseph O'Brien and Daniel O'Brien. She is also survived by her sisters, Joan Carmona and Marian McLaughlin; son-in-law, Robert Kovacs; grandchildren, Fred and Jessica Hosley and Josh Hayner, Cerise Bauknight, Allie Joy and Chloe Zangeneh, Katie, Sean and Megan O'Brien, Emily Farris, Kelsey and Ryan Kovacs, Fred and Becca Hosley, and Ansley, Kevin (Amber) and Michaela O'Keefe. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Leo and Cynthia Hosley, Mason Weaver, Taylor Horan, Ashleigh Herrington, and Amelia Catalfamo, Jaylan Declan and Dakota Hogan, Kailey Monroe, Carmine Butryn, Hazel and Hudson Bauknight, and Aiden and Nora Rose Brill.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m., on Friday, August 15, and to her funeral service at 11 a.m., at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 175 Williams Road, Troy.
