James Halpin Obituary
ALBANY - James E. Halpin, Jr., 83, passed peacefully January 6, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Catskill, he was the son of the late James and Laura Halpin, Sr. James left school in 1956 to serve with honor in the U.S. Navy, returning in 1962 and working a long career for the Albany Police Department, retiring as a Forensic Detective.
James was proud of his family and the love they brought to his heart. He asked about others, always putting them before himself, full of life and love for everyone.
James was married for 60 years to his beloved wife, Mary Jane Saunders Halpin, and will be greatly missed by his family, Dean (Jackie), Dennis (Susan), David (Amy) and Michelle (Ralph) Sianato; grandchildren, Ian, Adam, Diego, Dante, Amber, Amanda, Alexis, Paris, Rocco, Michael, Joseph, Stefano; two great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank SPH Oncology Department and Dr. Savage, Sunnyview Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Father Bradley for his time and kind words.
Funeral services will be private.
At this time, the family is asking for privacy as they grieve and heal together.
Friends and those wishing to remember James in a special way are welcome to make a donation to Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany N.Y., in lieu of flowers or cards.
