John Farrell Obituary

Farrell, John Leo BRADENTON, Fla. John Leo Farrell of Bradenton and formerly of Latham and Clifton Park, sadly passed away at the age of 59 on March 13, 2017, from a sudden heart attack. John was born to the late John and Norine Farrell and raised in Latham. He is survived by his daughter, Jocelyn Farrell, of Malta and son, Zachary Farrell, of Taipei, Taiwan; sister, Kathy Hogan and husband Dennis of Annandale, Va. and brother, Jerry Farrell of Westerlo; along with his former wife, Cindy Farrell of Clifton Park. John graduated from Shaker High School in 1975 and served in the United States Marine Corps. John's humor and charm served him well working with teenagers and developmentally disabled adults during the 1980's and 90's in various agencies. At the age of forty, he went back to school and graduated from Schenectady County Community College, earning degrees in culinary arts and restaurant management. His skills as a chef took him to Saratoga, New Orleans and Florida and across the country. At the time of his death he was a chef at Mattison's City Grille on Bradenton's beautiful Riverwalk. He'll be remembered for his clever storytelling, great sense of humor and wonderful smile and laugh. All friends and family are invited to join in a celebration of his life on Sunday, October 8, at the Carlsbad Pavilion in Saratoga State Park from 12:30 - 4 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to your local homeless shelter in compassionate memory of those in need.

Joc and Zach, you both honor you father's memory by passing along the fullness of the love he shared with you. The goodness John had to give now rests in both of you and is his greatest legacy.
Cindy, you've honored John through all the love and friendship you never held back and most of all in the two beautiful children you both bought into this world.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers and I'll see you soon. With love always, cousin laura
