John Fredericks Obituary

Fredericks, John T.
EAST GREENBUSH - John T. "Mickey" Fredericks, 78, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025, at Albany Medical Center in Albany, N.Y., after a long illness.
Born and raised in Albany, N.Y., John was the beloved son of the late Harold T. and Anne P. (Reith) Fredericks. He began his education at St. Ann's Academy, continued at Christian Brothers Academy, and graduated from Cardinal McCloskey Memorial High School. He later attended Hudson Valley Community College.
John proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, completing four years of honorable service. He went on to work at Al Tech Specialty Steel Corporation and retired in 2008 from the New York State Office of Real Property Services.
He was a devoted brother to Deborah Fredericks Reehl of East Greenbush, Regina (Terry) Ashby of Altamont, and Joanne (Brett) Carver of Castleton. He is also survived by his cherished niece, Shannon (Clarke) Caporale of Waterford; loving great-nephews, Christian and Cameron Caporale; and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Harold W. Fredericks.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, John was a proud New York Yankees fan and an avid supporter of Kentucky college basketball and Notre Dame football. In his later years, he developed a deep appreciation for the NHL, which brought him great joy.
John's family extends special thanks to his brother-in-law, Brett Carver, for his dedicated, loving care during John's illness. In addition, the family would like to thank Bobo Isio Bosumbe and Rosita Schmidt for their compassionate care and warm hearts.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
John will be remembered for his humor, generosity, loyalty, and the warmth he brought into the lives of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever loved.

Mickey may God bless you. You were a great cousin and a diehard Notre Dame fan like me. We shared our joys of victories as well as our agonizing Notre Dame defeats. We had some great trips up to the Glens Falls Civic Center to see the NYS High School Basketball Championships . Thanks for being a great cousin, I will miss you but know you´re in good hands and company. Love ya Mick. John Reith
