John Mattimore Obituary
NORTH GREENBUSH - John S. "Jack" Mattimore, 93, of Zelenke Drive, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at St. Peter's Hospital, surrounded by his family.
Born and raised in North Adams, Mass., Jack was the son of the late John and Charlotte Swan Mattimore and the devoted husband of the late Betty Arnold Mattimore. Following their marriage in 1956, Jack lived in Averill Park before settling in North Greenbush. Jack spent most of his career in the life insurance business starting Mattimore Agency in 1971. Through the years, Jack made Mattimore Agency a family business with Betty, his daughter Brenda, and many generations helping out in the office.
Jack's greatest pleasures were the good times surrounding family and friends - whether camping at Aqua Vista and Deer Run Campgrounds, bowling, winning at the casino, or entertaining at his and Betty's home. Jack was a lifelong (usually disappointed) fan of the N.Y. Giants and Boston Celtics.
Jack was the father of the late John Mattimore and Stephen "Stevie" Mattimore; and brother of the late Charles "Chuck" Mattimore. Survivors include his daughter, Brenda (Ron) Shoemaker of North Greenbush; his grandchildren, Mick (Tonya Bryman) Marshall, Jaclyn Fissette, and Ronnie (Dan) Tagliento along with several great-grandchildren and the Arnold family of in-laws and nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 4-6:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 9, at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel, 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake, Averill Park. A service will follow at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be private in the Brookside Cemetery in Barberville.
If desired, donations in memory of John S. Mattimore may be made to the Sand Lake Ambulance, P.O. Box 222, West Sand Lake, NY, 12196.
