John Pollard III

1933 - 2022

Pollard, John III ALTAMONT John Pollard III, known to friends as "Jack," passed away peacefully on June 24, 2022, at the age of 89. Jack was born on February 17, 1933, in Tarrytown, N.Y., a son of the late John and Marie Pollard. He moved to Altamont in December 1943, where he spent his life selflessly giving back to the community. He was an active member of the Altamont Fire Department for over 70 years, served in the National Guard for nine years, and especially loved being a member of the NY-Penn Military Vehicle Collectors Club. He cherished his family and friends and will be missed by many. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Clinda "Cindy" Wellisch Pollard; his three sons, John, Eric (Carol), and Marc (Wendy); his seven grandchildren, Nichole, Samantha, Amanda, Adam, Ashley, Evan, and Emily; his three great-grandchildren, Kaelan, Anthea, and Chloe; his sister, Michele (Ralph); his two brothers, Thomas, and James (Ruth), and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his twin sisters, Sheila and Maureen. Friends and family are invited to a memorial gathering on July 31, from 12 - 4 p.m. at The American Legion in Altamont, where his family will be hosting an open house with refreshments.
