Jonathan Albert Obituary

DELMAR Jonathan Aaron Albert, 20 of Delmar, died suddenly on June 26, 2003. He was the beloved son of Joseph Albert and Sharon Kopyc Albert and the beloved brother of Shannah, Jason and Kristin Albert. Jon graduated from Bethlehem High School in 2001 and was elected by his classmates to be the featured speaker at graduation. He attended college at University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Jon's passion was ice hockey. He was MVP of the Bethlehem High School hockey team his senior year and played on the Capital District Selects, among many other teams. He also played varsity and junior varsity baseball. Jon especially loved his many friends who shared his zest for life and appreciated his wonderful sense of humor. His family is grateful for the support and love his friends consistently showed to Jon during his illness. Jon brightened up the room with his beautiful blue eyes and his warm smile. He was witty and always showed concern for others. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. He is survived by his parents, brothers and sisters. He will also be greatly missed by his Aunt Karen, Uncle Eddie, Uncle Jonathan and his cousins, Ryan and Andrew and many beloved and supportive friends of his family. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 30 at 1 p.m. at Congregation Beth Emeth on Academy Road in Albany, followed by interment at the Beth Emeth Cemetery. A period of mourning will be held at the Albert residence Monday through Wednesday evenings between 5 and 9 p.m. Contributions to a memorial scholarship in Jonathan's memory can be made to BC Endowment Fund, 90 Adams Place, Delmar, NY 12054.

Jon,
I hope you are well my friend. I'll always remember so many good times together. I was recently thinking of you and our extended group of friends. I can't believe your visit to Cuse' sophomore year would be the last time we would see each other. Many of us rally around your memory when we meet; there are always such positive memories shared. I'll always remember the first time we really talked, I was wearing overalls running around behind the bleachers at the high school football game and you weren't too keen on those overalls, haha. Hey, they were cool man, you know that. I hope you're feeling the peace and comfort you needed my friend. I wanted to let you know, you're loved and on our minds.

Son, It has been over a year since we last saw you. Our lives go on, but beneath it all the deep ache of your absence remains, as does our love for you. You brought so much joy to us. Our time with you was much too "short but sweet for certain".

Until we can share a hug once more, I send my love.

I can imagine today is a very hard day for you. Please stay strong and know that you are in many of our hearts every day and especially today. I will never forget the love Jon had for his birthday, I could never imagine someone being so excited for September 9th, 1999 as he was.. always chanting 9-9-99. You are in our thoughts today

Jon,

I feel lucky to be one of the ones who saw more than the muscle man who used to threaten to beat me up whenever I came over. Underneath that was a sensitive young man who's passion for living was only surpassed by your fierce love for your family and friends. May God watch over you as well as you did your sister.

Dear Jon,
Your life was cut too short, and I want you to know that people miss you, care about you and love you, and always will. I wish there was something to say to your family to make everything better, but I know too well that no words can make the pain go away. I ask my brother every day to take you under his wing, and I know he's listening. This is a poem that my cousin wrote to my family; I hope you and your family find the same comfort in it that I do:

Though your smile is gone forever,
And your hand we cannot touch,
still we have so many memories
of the one we love so much.
Your memory is our keepsake
with which we will never part.
God has you in his keeping
we have you in our hearts.

Love,
Val

Jon, I will always remember you. Everyone will. I hope that you can somehow know the loss that we all feel. Our lives are all a little more dull with out our Stifler. The stories and moments you have given us are priceless. You had a great subtle sense of humor. I can't even put my feelings into words. Your life will be in my mind forever Jon.

Jon definitely had a way of making people smile. From Hamagrael's fifth grade cabaret where he danced like John Travolta all the way through his speech at graduation. My heart goes out to the Albert family. Jon will be missed greatly.

Jonathan,

You'll always be my baby brother. Today I took a walk to Hamagrael and pressed my face against the glass doors, wishing more than anything that we were little kids again on the other side of those doors. Love is too trivial of a word to describe what I feel for you. You'll always be a part of me.

Jon, what can I say about losing one of my best friends? I'll always cherish the times we had and the crazy stories will certainly live on forever. You'll always be in my thoughts until we meet again at the big party in the sky. Rest in Peace.
