My deepest condolences to your family. I grew up with Joseph in Brooklyn, NY. The memories of Joseph and his friends hanging on St. John's Pl. will stay in my heart forever. Once a friend, always a friend. He will be missed immensely.

There is an old saying that it takes an entire village to raise a child. OJ You lived up to that modo as you treated everyone's child as if were your own.
You were a brother to my father which made you an uncle to me. You were my mentor, you are the reason my voice is heard each and every Thursday in the place you help make the best in the capital district for college radio, 90.9 FM, WCDB, at Suny Albany. I can never thank you enough for sharing your wisdom and giving me guidance.
I Remember the last time I saw you like it was yesterday and although you couldn't speak to me you could hear me. I thanked you for everything and I told you I loved you. Well I'm thanking you again one last time and I'm telling you I love you one last time.
May God bless your spirit and I only hope I live to become half as great a man as you were. Good bye my uncle I love you.

To Etwin, Amber, Alicia and Family, God will continue to comfort you. Although doc has passed, he still remains with us! His work must continue. God truly used doc while he was a live. It has been an honor to be a colleague of Dr. Bowman for nearly two decades at the UAlbany School of Education. Joe's passion for the educational advancement of children and for empowerment through access to educational technology was inspirational and contagious. He was a visionary and a powerful advocate with a strong and positive impact on educational professionals and leaders. He was a good man with a great laugh. He will be missed. Dr. Bowman, as I called, my mentor, will be truly missed. He cared about all people and helped all students who needed his guidance. He was a great friend to many and a mentor to all. I will miss working with him, long hours in his office on papers. We even wrote a chapter in a book, and when it was accepted, i loved the smile on his face. I will forever miss my friend and mentor and my heart goes out to his family. You had a great charm and though he is in heaven, earth will truly miss him.

Joseph was a great man: positive, warm-hearted and encouraging to all he met and worked with, and deeply committed to supporting inner city, minority and immigrant students. I worked closely with Joseph and Etwin for three years, and I was tremendously impressed by their commitment and goodwill.
