Joseph Mazzone Obituary

Mazzone, Joseph Sr.
SCHODACK - Joseph Mazzone Sr. of Schodack, N.Y. passed away on March 30, 2024, at home surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Siderno, Reggio Calabria, Italy to the late Vincenzo and Rosa Mazzone. He immigrated to the United States in 1967 and has lived in the capital district since then. Joseph was the beloved husband of Caterina Mazzone (Commisso) for 57 years; and devoted father of Vincent (Cindi) Mazzone of Schodack and Joseph (Chanda) Mazzone Jr. of Schodack; a grandfather of Ciara Mazzone and Gracie Mazzone of Schodack.
Joseph is survived by his sister, Dina Agostino of Delmar, N.Y.; nephews, Joseph Agostino of Delmar, N.Y., Maurizo (Catherine) Agostino of Lancaster, Pa.; niece, Sonia Lombardo of Gioiosa Ionica, Reggio Calabria Italy; cousin, Adella (John) Marando of Guilderland, N.Y.; brother-in-law, Sandro Lombardo of Pirgo, Reggio Calabria Italy. Brothers-in-law, Franchesco Commisso, Sandro Commisso and Vincenzo Commisso of Milan, Italy. Sisters-in-law, Julia Raimondi and Rossanna Commisso of Milan, Italy, and many nieces, nephews and cousins locally and abroad.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his sister, Emilia Lombardo of Pirgo, Reggio Calabria, Italy; and his brother-in-law, Eugenio Agostino of Delmar, N.Y.
After immigrating to the United States, Joseph was employed by Callanan Industries as a construction laborer until his retirement in 1997. He was also a member of Laborers Local 190 Union.
Joseph was an avid outdoorsman and was a member of the Nassau Sportsmen's Club. In addition, he enjoyed spending many hours working in his vegetable garden and completing home improvement projects. Joseph was a kind, generous, devoted family man who enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with his grandchildren.
A Mass will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 10 a.m. at the Church of St. Mary's, at Clinton Heights.
