Joyce A. Severance

Severance, Joyce A. NASSAU Joyce A. Severance, 71, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. Joyce was the daughter of the late George Hartnagle and Rose Gragnano. She was the beloved wife of over 48 years to Robert J. Severance. Joyce worked at the Donald P. Sutherland Elementary School for many years. Joyce was someone that could never be replaced. She cherished her children and grandchildren very much. She lived for her family. She was a wonderful caretaker for children for many years. Joyce had a heart of gold and would give her shirt off her back for anyone in need. Joyce enjoyed camping, shopping, trips to the casino along with her scratch-offs. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Joyce was loved by everyone. Her husband was the Mayor for many years and she was referred to as the First Lady of Nassau. She left a warm lasting impression with everyone she met. In addition to her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her son Jason Severance. Joyce is survived by her husband Robert Sr.; her sons, Robert J. Jr. (Kendra), and Christopher (Corinne); her daughter Jennifer (Adam); and her grandchildren Ava, Braden, Mason, Ariana and Landyn. Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet on Wednesday, August 25, from 4 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 26, at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
